Job Title : Financial Controller
Job Location : Kuwait
Job Purpose
Responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting activities in terms of financial planning, budgeting, company audits, controlling and reporting activities, providing accurate management of financial information as well as overseeing the timely and accurate preparation of statutory accounts, financial statements and regulatory reports. The candidate will possess a strong background in finance and management.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Participate in the development overall annual budget.
- Verify the expenditures against approved budgets to ensure on-target performance against budgets.
- Direct the development of the Division’s Policies & Processes in line with the company standards and other applicable laws and regulations and ensure proper implementation of the same across all Functions under his/ her management.
- Report to the Holding CEO and Board Members with timely and accurate financial information.
- Supervise & direct the Finance Manager, Chief Accountant, MIS Manager and Treasury Manager / Cost Accountant to ensure efficient financial management of the Group financial affairs.
- Analyze financial data, monitor internal controls, and develop plans for financial growth.
- Evaluate and manage group financial risk and oversee all company accounts and investments.
- Create monthly and annual reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts.
- Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems, including payroll and invoicing.
- Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported.
- Review financial reporting systems to ensure compliance with government regulations and legislation.
- Review all financial plans and budgets regularly for efficient cost reduction opportunities.
- Review budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and combining financial data; recommending plans.
- Assess financial operations and make best-practices recommendations to top management.
- Provide insightful information and expectations to senior executives to aid in long-term and short-term decision making.
- Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations.
- Achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Adhere to internal or external operational and financial deadliness.
- Advise operators on best practices and partners with them to develop solutions to achieve the goals of the business.
- Perform other duties related to the job as assigned by the Direct Manager.
- Review reports prepared by employees with regards to the assigned Functions’ activities and provide recommendations related to areas of improvement accordingly.
- Maintain the Top Management’s awareness of the main activities performed by the Division, including but not limited to: Budget activity, performance results, critical issues, etc. through establishing a transparent and comprehensive reporting mechanism.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field would be an added advantage
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), CA (Chartered Accountant), ACCA member (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) Certification would be an advantage.
