DUTIES & RESPOBSIBILITIES

Planning the containers in yard as per Vessel / Size / Port / Weight / Category-wise, effectively prepare and send the necessary reports promptly. Coordinate with Gate / Documentation / Port users.

JOB DETAILED

Manage continuous process of yard integrity, while performing on-going space utilization analysis.

Responsible on a daily basis for ensuring that the yard operation runs in a manner that achieves maximum productivity and efficiency, with 100% system integrity as it relates to equipment location recording transactions as much as possible.

Provides strategic yard lay-out settings and maintains vessel library.

Create and maintain a yard set up which supports the terminals productivity targets per RTG/ RS / ECH Operation.

Ensure that equipment location information has 100% accuracy & integrity.

Check and support an accurate and efficient information flow on the terminal related to all yard activities.

In co-operation with other planning and gate staff set the overall yard strategy by assigning flexible allocation per service.

Control yard space allocation by category, Lion operator, status, Nominated vessel, Equipment Size& type, special handling (i.e. hazardous, temperature controlled etc.) for empty and loaded equipment.

Monitor and fine-tune the terminal operating system in order to ensure that yard planning is satisfactory and meets the strategy requirements.

Prepare the ‘yard work plan’ on a daily basis and communicate to relevant persons where the equipment has to be located.

Prepare the work flow related to housekeeping, empty movement, corrections etc.

u Report on a monthly basis on the status of production, yard density, equipment utilization and strategy/allocation changes.
u Support the Resource Planning function by determining CHE and Staffing requirements for upcoming shifts.
u Work with customers, trucking companies, and other external parties in the logistics chain to forecast upcoming activities and container flows.
u Always corresponding with all related departments to collect the information, as well as getting from their side also.
u Always advise all RTG & R/S & ECH Operator’s to do compress for keeping space in-order to avoid lack of space for incoming vessels.
u Train new employees (RTG/ R/S/ ECH) in job duties and responsibilities, planning process workflow and standard operating procedures.
u Liaise with yard foreman and supervisor to ensure operations proceed in an efficient manner.
u Ensure that a safe and healthy work environment exists, by adhering to company health, safety and environment policies, to achieve full compliance with the relevant legislation
u Communicate through voice radio, answering all incoming calls from operators and others, accurately and promptly resolving problems.
u Ensuring the highest possible level of competency within the Terminal Planning area. Ensure that planners are fully capable of using the functionality provided by the TOS. Ensure that clerical expediency is never allowed to determine the quality of plans issued for execution.
u Communicating effectively with staff and relevant departments to ensure they are conversant with any changes in working practices, which may affect operations.
u Defining and initiating improvements of administrative and planning processes.
u Interact with the client and continually develop the working relationship.
u Encourage and motivate all employees to provide best in class services and standards.
u Ensure strict adherences with defined timelines for acceptance of containers to be offloaded in the yard.
u Responsible for all aspects of yard planning, crane equipment allocations, etc. in close coordination with the Operation & Project Manager.
u Ensure to release equipment for periodic maintenance to maintenance department against demand.
